Design Planning
This phase begins with you. We spend considerable time and effort getting to know you so that we can create a custom landscape that fits your unique ideas, preferences, requirements and goals. There are five areas we take into consideration:
Personality
At the first meeting, we will ask you about your family, your lifestyle, how you would like to use your property, your goals, and what is and is not working in the existing environment.
Architecture
Considering the architectural style of your home is next. This is crucial to the aesthetics of your landscape, and will ultimately enhance the value of your home.
Function
We consider things such as sense of space and scale, traffic flow, entry points, privacy, and the overall function of the space.
Environment
We all want our properties to look nice but more and more of our clients are trying to be environmentally-friendly in their choices as well. Both can easily be accomplished with a few simple rules of thumb and design techniques. These include the use of locally sourced, indigenious plants which require less water and maintenance, planning around the sun by planting evergreens and shade trees in direct western exposure thus reducing your home's energy consumption, and using nature as a model - a standard for what works in your climate. We always keep these principles in mind and use them as much as possible in our design.
Preferences
Selecting color palettes, textures, plants, trees, grasses, stone and paver colors, flowers and other accessories to bring the space to life is the last design step. You choose whether you want to shop with us, or just give us the go ahead and we take care of the rest.
